Breaking into Baking!

Hello there!


I know its been a minute since my last post but rest assured I have been working hard! Since we've last talked, I have become certified in non-surgical hair loss replacement, building on my knowledge of hair color and gradually reopening my business for new clients. But, being this busy behind the scenes can take a toll if left unchecked.


Since its cooling off outside I've started back baking to unwind! To tell you the truth, with all the working and learning; I was concerned about the lack of posting content on the blog and social media. However, I posted a poll on my business Facebook and Instagram and an overwhelming majority wanted me to start posting my various food finds!


So, here we go...the first recipe was used as a birthday cake for a friend and I found it on Let's Dish. It takes well over an hour to bake but trust me, its worth it! You can make yours with the following recipe:

INGREDIENTS FOR THE CAKE:

  • 1 1/4 cups butter, softened

  • 3 cups sugar

  • 6 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

  • 25 Oreo cookies, crushed

FOR THE GLAZE:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar

  • 3 tablespoons whole milk

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour a 12-15 cup bundt pan.

  2. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar at medium speed until fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

  3. Beat in the vanilla and salt.

  4. Add the flour alternately with cream, beginning and ending with flour. Beat until just combined after each addition.

  5. Spoon half of batter into prepared pan. Top evenly with half of crushed cookies. Using a butter knife, gently swirl the crushed cookies into the batter.

  6. Add the remaining batter to the pan and top with remaining crushed cookies. Using the knife, swirl the cookies into the batter again.

  7. Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes to 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until a tester comes out clean.

  8. Allow cake to cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely on a wire rack.

  9. In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle over cooled cake.

Now, if you're not up to put all that together, I found a simple 3 part Peanut Butter Cup Brookie Recipe that was gobbled up around the fire pit. All you need is premade cookie dough, 10 or 6 pack of full size Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and a Box of Brownie mix. Layer similar to the picture below (I recommend using paper muffin cups to minimize mess) and bake for 18 to 20 minutes on 350 degrees and viola!
