As far as I'm concerned, COVID-19 is still very real and I'm still pretty cautious about where I will and will not go. With that in mind, I've been going back and forth on whether I should purchase Kindle Unlimited. I LOVE my local library not only for the wealth of information and resources it provides but because of their quick adaptation/response to the pandemic. Don't get me wrong, I've been checking out audiobooks like crazy but there are some books I haven't been able to get my hands on and probably won't be able to for a while.
This past Juneteeth, I celebrated by patronizing black businesses, attempted to open an account with a Black owned bank (https://www.oneunited.com/), binged some black stories (i.e. For Ahkeem, Burn Motherfucker,Burn, America To Me) and read up on some pertinent info concerning the black community. Whether you are unaware of how disproportionately impacted by racism that those in the African American community are or if you just want a good read, give these two a try.
Let me know what you were or were not surprised to learn!
